Position Overview
The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Merrimack College seeks an energetic and experienced individual to fill the position of Senior Learning Experience Designer/ Hybrid & Hyflex Specialist. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation, Development and Design (CTIDE) . This individual is responsible for researching, implementing, and supporting technology in the academic setting including assisting faculty with the use of technology in the classroom, administration of course management software and maintenance, and the support and administration of other academic software in McQuade Library and across campus. This position will have specific oversight of hybrid and hyflex learning, and advancement of hybrid/hyflex modalities in Merrimack’s graduate program offerings.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as Subject Matter Expert and system administrator for the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
Manage all integrations and upgrades of LTI tools in Canvas
Tracks usage of tools and the LMS features to provide reports on trends and create and execute a plan to address those issues and trends.
Provide training and development for all faculty teaching in Hybrid and Hyflex modalities regarding use of classroom technology and best practices in course design and instruction
Develop assessment strategies and approaches to evaluate effectiveness of hybrid/hyflex learning, and report out to relevant stakeholders
Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies and methods specific to hybrid and hyflex learning
Hire, manage, and train Hyflex Tech Assistants for Hyflex Classes.
Develop training materials including videos, workflows, and other resources for educational technologies, for staff, faculty and student use.
Support faculty in the development of teaching and learning strategies using innovative and current instructional and mobile technologies and design theories.
Participate in the design and facilitation of professional development programs and orientations designed for faculty.
Collaborate internally with IT partners to design and facilitate professional development programs for staff on technology related areas as well as specialized topics in response to specific requests.
Support the initiatives of the Director of Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation, Development and Design (CTIDE).
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or related field preferred
5+ year’s experience in related field
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends and developments in the field of instructional technology.
Experience with Canvas
Experience with Google Suite is a plus.
