Position Summary

The College of Educationand Human Sciences (COEHS) at the University of New Mexico impacts the lives ofNew Mexicans daily and is looking for someone not only to tell those storiesbut also to become part of them. The COEHS invites applicants to be theCommunications and Marketing Manager. This position provides the opportunitynot only to define a critical component of the college but also to be a part ofthe initiatives and programs that impact the lives of New Mexicans.

The COEHS is seeking a dynamic individual who can help to amplify the work ofthe college by creating a clear and consistent singular thread through publicrelations, communications and marketing, and general outreach. The College iscomplex and large (more than 100 faculty and 1000 students), with 5 academicdepartments representing a number of disciplines, programs, research, as wellas community engagement throughout New Mexico and beyond. This person will providethe College with an identified staff member to coordinate and synthesize itsoverall communication and marketing needs to reach a variety of internal andexternal stakeholders.

This Communications and Marketing Manager will provide high-level managementand coordination of the College's communications, strategic marketing,outreach, and representation in promotional materials, including in print aswell as via social media. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Work directly with the administrative and leadership team of the COEHS to develop, manage, and lead communication plans and coordinated outreach to internal and external constituents;
  • Lead, manage, and direct the development, implementation, and completion of strategic communication and marketing plans for the College;
  • Establish, implement, and monitor short- and long-term communication, marketing, and outreach goals and objectives;
  • Manage, lead, and supervise employee team and positions responsible for COEHS public relations, communications and marketing, and general outreach, to include work allocation, performance evaluation, coaching and training, and direct involvement in personnel actions;
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct direct outreach, communications, , and marketing efforts to internal and external COEHS stakeholders;
  • Oversee, compose, design, and edit promotional, recruitment, and marketing materials in various written, audio/visual, and social media.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in coordinating, planning, and conducting media activities, special events, and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in current communications and marketing industry requirements and in developing and implementing
    communication and marketing strategies.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Project management experience.
