Stantec is seeking a talented, progressive, team-focused Senior Structural CADD Designer to join our Transportation Team in Denver, CO focused primarily on structural plan layout, geometric design, and detailing. This role will entail working and collaborating closely with a Senior Structural Engineer to perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the designs and plan development of transportation structures and facilities such as bridges, retaining walls, hydraulic structures, highway appurtenances, interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure, public spaces and/or other.

This senior position is an integral part of our engineering team in Colorado and on major highway projects throughout US West while focused on supporting all aspects of the Colorado Transportation group. You will push yourself and our engineers in developing creative project solutions, advancing local CADD capabilities and project delivery, while mentoring others in an evolving engineering and design industry. Our North American practice lead in digital technology for Infrastructure sits in our Denver office providing a great opportunity to bridge the gap between our advancing 3D based model design/simulation capabilities and engineering project and plan delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Creation of 3D base models of existing conditions and proposed design to identify conflicts and correct representation of design.
  • Create reports from design software that clearly represent and correlate design detailing and quantities.
  • Prepare interim and final construction drawing packages to include bridges, retaining walls, hydraulic structures, highway appurtenances, interchanges, roadway reconstruction, utilities, subway stations, railroad infrastructure, and public spaces.
  • Coordinate setup of projects including standards and sheet layout specific to key clients including both state departments and local agencies.
  • Analyze complex problems, methods, procedures, and processes, and makes recommendations for alternative solutions.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management and resource planning of the Colorado based CADD staff across multiple disciplines.
  • Responsible for management and upkeep of evolving CADD programs, software updates, platform configuration, resources, standards, and files.
  • Assist with training junior engineers and technicians in CADD standards and best practices
  • Assist with setting up Projectwise hosted projects and coordinating with IT for proper software versions, folder structure, permissions, and CADD resources

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Familiarity with conceptual design software such as Infraworks or ConceptStation preferred
  • Ability to apply 3D modeling techniques and work in a 3D model-based project
  • Demonstrates broad comprehensive technical knowledge in several functions within computer aided design and the discipline
  • Demonstrates broad comprehensive technical knowledge in engineering fundamentals for design including roadway and drainage design
  • Familiarity with confirming and correctly using various client's CADD standards and resources
  • Understanding and familiarly on how to apply and adhere to various client's Design standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners
  • Experience preparing final design plans and specifications
  • Good problem solving and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with design software potentially including MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads Designer
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Education and Experience
  • 10 years of related work experience in structural drafting, detailing, and plan set development or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • College degree preferred, B.S. or A.S., Engineering Technology, or related fields

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):
  • $38.17 - $55.38 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
