Job Description:

Accenture Federal Services' National Security Portfolio (NSP) is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to support the integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of a Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) system to provide maritime domain awareness in Northern Africa. The system will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating security information to enhance the security and force protection of maritime boundaries, natural resources, and strategic ports. The ideal candidate will work as part of an integrated team based in greater Boston, Massachusetts, to develop and maintain the system and software documentation pertaining to system configuration, operations, security, and maintenance.

The Work:
  • Plan, write, and maintain all associated C4ISR system, sensor, and software manuals
  • Work with the entire integration team (Quality Assurance, Training, Software Engineering, Program Managers, and Systems Engineers) to understand the documentation priorities, collect information, and develop documents used for system training, user manuals, and other required program documentation
  • Create and maintain customer end-user documentation, which consists of Online Help, User Guides, Admin Guides, Configuration and Installation instructions, etc.
  • Maintain policy document frameworks, consolidate technical input and analysis, and create logical understandable system reports
  • Participate in weekly program discussions and reviews, providing status of all program related documentation deliverables
  • Create documents based on pertinent system technical drawings, technical information, consultations with the technical personnel, and other available sources
  • Review system, sensor, and software documentation for content and grammatical quality and consistency
  • Work with the program software development team to document all new software capability and fixes
  • Assist the Lead Technical Writer with managing all program documentation deliverables and ensuring the proper documentation priorities are being executed
  • Write referential and instructional material after only having a short amount of time to become familiar with the product

Here's what you need:
  • Certificate, Letter of Specialization, or Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing and Technical Communication, Technical Writing, English, Communication, Graphic Design, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical writer for a software application
  • 2+ years using standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), plus familiarity with the MS Office suite, including PowerPoint
  • 2+ years of experience with document authoring tools such as MadCap Flare or RoboHelp

Bonus points if you have:
  • Familiarity with Agile process
  • Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • Ability to design and create graphics and illustrations that balance the users' needs with program goals and technological capabilities
  • Familiar with the concept of reusable content for documentation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to write for a wide variety of audiences with a range of expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to reach out to and follow through with other roles at the company to obtain technical information

Security Clearance:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance


As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set and level of experience. The pay range for the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia is:

$65,000-$139,600 USD
