Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a motivated and dynamic Operations Communications Specialist to join our Operations team under the guidance of the Director of Community and Public Relations. This position will play a key role in managing and executing communication strategies related to capital projects, large maintenance projects, other Operations related initiatives and engagement events within the school district. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and technical knowledge to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create comprehensive communication plans that support the Operations department's goals, including capital improvements, maintenance initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
  • Content Creation and Management: Produce engaging, informative content for a variety of channels, including press releases, newsletters, websites, and social media, ensuring consistency with the district's brand and communication objectives.
  • Media Relations: Act as a liaison between the Operations department and the media, coordinating interviews, and responding to media inquiries related to operational projects and initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, community members, and external partners, ensuring transparent and effective communication regarding operational projects and events.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of public engagement events related to capital projects and maintenance initiatives, including community meetings and informational sessions.
  • Crisis Communication: In collaboration with the District's Communications team, assist in managing communications during Operations related emergencies or crises, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies, using data to inform and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with project managers and other operational staff to ensure alignment between project objectives and communication efforts.

Maximum Salary 97567.00

Minimum Salary 78848.00

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role, preferably within an educational or public sector environment.
  • Strong Writing Skills: Exceptional ability in crafting clear, compelling content for various audiences and formats.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Digital Proficiency: Experience with digital communication platforms, social media management, and content management systems.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively to develop impactful communication strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
