SUMMARY of duties

Social Media Manager with the ability to develop and implement a content and engagement strategy that increases the awareness of the actions and initiatives for the Department of Human Resources (DHR). As the Social Media Manager for DHR, you will work closely with creative and communications teams, from other departments to source and adapt content for publication on City platforms. Other responsibilities include providing video and photographic services as required for various HR functions and events.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements a social media strategy that strengthens Human Resources (HR) digital presence.
  • Manages postings on multiple City social media platforms, tailoring publications based on your knowledge of each platform, audience, etc.
  • Regularly generates platforms and campaign-related metrics, benchmarks and other analyses to inform the City's social media base of various strategies and efforts.
  • Monitors current events and trending topics to identify potential opportunities to elevate the work of the City and the priorities of Human Resources and Mayor Dicken's core pillars
  • Expands our reach, engages followers and informs the public, using metrics to shape strategy.
  • Collaborates with others to source materials and craft content that is consistent with the City's brand as well as HR's agenda
  • Monitors the social media publications of City departments and offices, amplifying their efforts and providing guidance as needed
  • Analyzes and determines photo/video requirements for projects as outlined by the Director of Marketing and Communications to produce compelling photos and videos in support of the initiatives.
  • Captures, catalogs, and maintains an archive of current and past HR photographs and videos.
  • Coordinates with internal divisions within HR and the City of Atlanta to remain abreast of new developments (ex: job fairs, employee engagement, new employee orientation, wellness events and more directly impacting the Department and employees)
  • Applies advanced photo and video production knowledge as well as advanced techniques for each genre to produce professional photographs and broadcast quality video programming for the promotion of HR
  • Directs and produces complex promotional materials including broadcast quality video programs, computer-generated graphics for video and media promoting HR activities and services.
  • Manages the operation and maintenance of video and photographic equipment; inclusive of but not limited to: photo and/or video cameras, lenses, tripods, lighting gear, sound recording equipment, computer editing station, and digital storage equipment
  • Coordinates, produces and leads all HR studio and on/off location video photo projects.
  • Manages and orchestrates projects that require assistance from contracted vendors to supply HR with additional video/photographic production services.
  • Evaluates and interprets photo/video unit needs; assessing unit equipment requirements and the submittal of recommendations for improvement
  • Selects footage, photos and transitions effects either independently or in cooperation with the Marketing & Communications Director, Commissioner of Huma
  • Resources, Deputy Commissioner and/or the Director of Talent Acquisition
  • Works with and directs talent as required for photo and/or video projects
  • Upholds a strict level of quality control in maintaining the corporate identity of HR and its divisions through photo and video production.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of the platforms used by the City: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Nextdoor
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Results oriented with a proven ability to prioritize, drive and achieve results working both independently and collaborating with others
  • Ability to respect brand and editorial guidelines
  • Sound judgement
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Superior attention to detail


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field
  2. Minimum five years of experience in the field of communications, including at least three years of experience managing the social media accounts of an institution, political campaign or brand
  3. Experience developing media/content campaigns
  4. Experience managing photography and social media marketing campaigns
  5. Experience monitoring, analyzing and leveraging social media metrics
  6. Valid driver's license with a good driving record

Special Requirements

May be required to work weekends or nights for HR functions and events.
