Video and Voice Communications Engineer

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY
-- Essential Functions/Duties As a Video and Voice Communications (VVC) Engineer, responsibilities include:
• Designing, developing, and implementing solutions for video acquisition, transmission, and processing
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into efficient and effective video and voice solutions
• Designing, developing, and implementing network solutions for VCC systems
• Debugging and troubleshooting VVC systems issues to ensure optimal system performance
• Understanding software applications and scripts that automate media processing and analysis
• Conducting analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in VVC systems
• Participating in system testing, validation, and verification activities
• Documenting system designs, procedures, and technical specifications
• Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to Video and Voice communications systems and distribution Desired Requirements
• Knowledge of Video (analog and digital), cameras, and video encoder/decoder process
• Familiarity with video capture equipment (cameras) installation, signal propagation, and RF principles
• Familiarity with Video Measurement and Transmission Standards (DVI, MPEG, HDMI, SDI)
• Familiarity with Air Traffic Control tower style voice communications systems equipment and digital voice processing techniques
• Experience with troubleshooting video and voice communications over network transport
• Database experience (SQL/MMSQL/MySQL)
• Knowledge of Timing distribution standards NTP/IRIG/PTP
• Knowledge of Ethernet networking concepts
• Ability to write PowerShell scripts for MS Windows
• Ability and willingness to climb towers for equipment installation and maintenance
• Prior experience or internships in a related field are a plus Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of eight years of related engineering experience are required for this position. In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications:
• Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company
• Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals
