We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for tackling technical challenges to join our team as a Video Codec Algorithm Engineer. As part of a small and dynamic group, you will play a key role in contributing to video codec standards and developing cutting-edge video compression and processing algorithms for current and future Apple products. This role demands a self-driven individual with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, as well as a deep passion for video coding and processing technologies.DescriptionYour responsibilities include, but not limited to: - Spearhead R&D in emerging media compression technologies and standards - Design and implement innovative video compression/processing algorithms optimized for existing hardware - Collaborate with hardware and software architects to define and integrate media features and algorithms for future productsMinimum QualificationsBS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experienceExpertise in video and image coding principles, algorithms, and techniquesIn-depth knowledge of video compression standards such as H.264, HEVC, VVC, VP9, AV1, and AV2Strong programming skills in C/C++Excellent software design, problem-solving, and debugging abilitiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with both objective and subjective visual quality assessment methodsUnderstanding of hardware-based techniques with the ability to develop ideas that are hardware-friendlyFamiliarity with video processing algorithms (e.g., scaling, noise reduction, tone mapping) is a plusProficiency in digital signal processing and information theory is a plusKnowledge of the latest computer vision and deep learning technologies is a plusExcellent collaboration skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
