Overview
The Senior Marketing Specialist serves as a key member of the Business Development (Marketing & Sales) team responsible for the preparation of proposals, presentations, and other marketing materials for each of the firm's sectors of work (Aviation, Transportation, Development, Facilities, Structural, and Federal). This individual works with each of the firm's offices and manages a variety of proposals and presentations throughout the entire life cycle of the response process. Responsibilities also include working with the appropriate key players to research, develop, and communicate strategic marketing efforts to meet the company's business development goals. This individual will assist with the implementation of the firm's strategies and tactics, as well as lead and improve our efforts for company and client campaigns. The Senior Marketing Specialist provides support, as needed, to the achievement of designated business development tasks and winning work with identified targets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may include but are not limited to):
- Respond to Private and Federal, State, and Local/Municipal Government proposal requirements for a wide range of consulting engineering services.
- Review Requests for Qualifications / Proposals (RFQ/RFPs) for Prime and Subconsultant determining requirements, setting up notes/checklists and schedules, and facilitating kick-off and review meetings.
- Collaborate and work closely with Principals, Project Managers, Graphic Designers, and other Business Development staff on proposals, presentations, and other marketing materials. Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals with varying opinions to create content with "one voice".
- Assemble and prepare proposals and presentations for selected projects and contracts including, but not limited to, tailoring resumes, project write-ups, firm history and overview, and project understanding and approach content; proof-reading and performing QA/QC checks; printing, collating, and binding; and shipment/delivery (either by mail, in person, or electronically).
- Promote AVCON's brand and mission through compelling content, storytelling, designated themes, and custom messaging.
- Generate innovative ideas to promote AVCON's brand and services and ensure brand consistency through all marketing channels.
- Utilize and maintain/update the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database.
- Manage and maintain/update generic marketing materials, general firm information, staff resumes, photo library, slide library, and project information sheets (for use in proposals, presentations, and other marketing materials).
- Coordinate business development activities (e.g., meetings, preparing handouts), follow-up for notes and action items, and distribute information and important dates to appropriate parties.
- Participate and represent the firm at various community functions, pre-proposal meetings, trade shows, advertising, social media campaigns, and special events as needed.
- Participate in special projects / business development campaigns as well as business development-related task forces and committees (internal and external) as available.
- Liaise with internal teams for content and to promote brand consistency, cross selling of services, and client management.
- Provide public relations, special events management, and advertising, and create firm brand awareness. Prepare and distribute status reports on business development efforts.
- Provide assistance to principals, project managers, business development staff,in the fulfillment of AVCON's business development as needed.
- Mentor business development department staff and assist with the delegation of business development-specific projects and tasks.
- Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, English or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of related experience including proposal writing. Minimum of 5 years of this experience within the AEC industry.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and other relevant graphic applications.
- Previous experience with CRM software (Deltek Vision and/or Vantagepoint, Cosential/Unanet), preferred.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication, editing and proofreading skills in the English language.
- Attention to detail and understanding of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
- Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.

- Ability to utilize a theme-based approach when developing proposals, presentations, and other marketing materials.
- Ability to keep abreast of marketing trends and competitor activities and perform market research, as well as understanding how to interpret the data received.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend creative and cost-effective promotional activities and marketing program improvements.
- Ability to cooperate with management in the development of marketing programs and criteria to achieve business development goals.
- Ability to maintain good working relations with AVCON employees at all organizational levels.
- Strong organization and effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and accurately, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.
