General Summary & Essential Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
Develop and manage internal communications strategies, channels and methods that advance the organization's communications goals with internal audience. Coordinates and manages the flow of promotional communication targeted to staff. Increase employee engagement, improve brand management and foster the organization's culture among employees. Ensure all internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with the organization's mission, vision and values.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:Two (2) years of experience in public relations, journalism, or public administration, to include lead or supervisory experience.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must maintain a valid driver's license.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with county leadership, to include department heads.
- Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, including email updates, newsletters, intranet content, videos, and presentations.
- Deliver presentations at organizational events.
- Draft messages or scripts from senior administrators for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization.
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
- Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation in an expeditious manner.
- Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication
- Provides exceptional customer assistance, problem-solving, and/or complaint resolution by all forms of communication.
Education and Experience:

- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of public information, public relations, customer service, and community outreach programs, marketing, and/or information media.
- Knowledge of website operations, social networking tools, TV programming & operations, branding, and graphic design concepts.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices of County government operations.
- Skill in creative writing and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including public speaking.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Skills in digital and video means of communication; familiarity with information technology tools & software.
