Description

The Lighthouse of Houston is hiring a marketing intern for the Spring Semester of 2025.

The Marketing Intern will assist the Director of Marketing and Development with all aspects of marketing, including editorial content, campaign development and management, email campaigns, website, blog posts, social media, and analytics. The intern will gain valuable experience while learning the job and building their resume. This position requires a high degree of flexibility and a broad interest in all areas of marketing, communications and fundraising.

This position must be a team player, show humility, trustworthiness, and respect. It is important for individuals to be committed to a continuous learning environment and a champion for change, with a teamwork mentality. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Development.

The Marketing Intern must be willing to demonstrate the Light (LIGHT) Principles of Leadership, Integrity, Growth, Humility and Trust. It is important for individuals to be committed to a continuous learning environment and a champion for change, with a teamwork mentality.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates behaviors and actions consistent with The Lighthouse of Houston's core values and mission.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities as outlined for the specific assignment.
  • Assist with building email campaigns, social media, website content, and newsletters to highlight opportunities and impact at The Lighthouse of Houston .
  • Participates in training and application of skills necessary to perform assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Communicates with identified internship supervisor reporting on progress, making recommendations, preparing reports, etc.
  • Obtains feedback from the internship supervisor to enhance skill development.
  • Develops relationships with Lighthouse of Houston staff and volunteers.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Licensure and Experience:
  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student who will return to college full-time (minimum of 12 credits per semester) as a sophomore, junior, or senior in the fall of 2024.
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate course for marketing, communications, or a related field.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with marketing computer software and social media platforms.
  • Experience in digital campaigns, photo/video editing software, WordPress or HTML/CSS
  • Good understanding of the latest marketing trends and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to problem solve, critical thinking and to continuously improve process, practices and tools.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Commitment to fulfill scheduled hours to accomplish assigned duties and tasks.
  • Wiliness to learn and ask questions to enhance the development process.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
