The Technical Writer will develop comprehensive deliverables including but not limited to documents, presentations, and videos, that meet or exceed client standards. The ideal candidate will have proven success in a highly technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering with experience building out playbooks, configuration documentation, security baselines, SOPs, and other technical specifications.

Internal title/grade: Technical Writer 5
Salary Range: $73,500 - $100,000
All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The pre-employment background investigation will include verification of employment and education, as well as, a criminal and DMV check.
Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain a deep understanding of our client's products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging multimedia content
- Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights into language for user success
- Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvement
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various client departments
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, user guides, standard operating procedures, and other deliverables as requested
- Design, develop, or add graphics to documentation to facilitate customer comprehension
- Work with the customer and our support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent voice across all documentation
- Ensure 508 compliance with all forms of client deliverables
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in technical writing for various audiences
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent verbal, graphical, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Demonstrate an outstanding level of professionalism in providing client support, including the ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy
- Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
- Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
- Firm understanding of SDLC (systems development lifecycle)
- Graphics design and video editing experience
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a relevant technical field is preferred
