Are you a data-driven writer/reporter who wants to write for home buyers, sellers, renters, brokers and experts in housing? We're looking for a talented data journalist to join our growing real estate news team. In this role, you'll use your editorial and analytical skills to uncover valuable data and market news. You'll also contribute to an automation initiative covering local housing news.
What You'll Do:
+ Analyze a variety of proprietary and 3rd party housing and other data sources (i.e., American Community Survey)to identify emerging trends, changes, and insights about the American real estate market
+ Translate complex data into clear, engaging articles and visualizations that inform our readers
+ Collaborate with our editorial team to brainstorm story ideas and improve our coverage and reporting
+ Stay up-to-date on the latest housing market dynamics, including home prices, mortgage rates, inventory levels, and more
What We're Looking For:
+ 5+ years of experience as a data journalist or in a similar role
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
+ Strong data analysis skills and experience working with tools like Python, SQL, Snowflake, Datawrapper, Tableau and ArcGIS
+ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to translate technical information for a general and specialist audience
+ Passion for the real estate industry and a knack for spotting important trends and insights
+ Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative ways to cover the housing market
+ Collaborative spirit and willingness to work closely with our editorial and product/development teams
This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires the successful candidate to be in office at our Austin or New York City locations three days a week.
