Position Summary:

The Standard Operating Procedure Content Developer will be responsible and have oversight over the standard operating procedures (SOP) companywide. This role engages all levels of the organization and guides each functional area in understanding how it impacts the SOP process. This role will develop detailed and clear SOPs that document step-by-step procedures for various tasks and processes within a role, department, and the organization. This involves observing and understanding current processes, interviewing subject matter experts, and translating their knowledge into structured documents.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:
  • Partner with all levels of the Company to reach and gather information to ensure completion of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all operational areas. This may include reviewing existing documentation, consulting industry standards, and seeking input from stakeholders to gather necessary details.
  • Responsible for writing SOPs using clear, concise language and ensuring they are formatted in a consistent and user-friendly manner. SOPs should be easy to understand for employees at all levels and should include diagrams, flowcharts, or other visuals that are helpful.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to review and revise SOPs as needed. This ensures that procedures reflect current practices, comply with regulatory requirements, and incorporate feedback for improvement.
  • Maintain a controlled document system to design, create, and maintain the SOP site and links on the Company intranet to standards and for maximum effect and ensure that most current versions are accessible to authorized personnel. This includes tracking changes, documenting revisions, and managing approvals.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and programs based on SOPs to ensure that employees are properly trained in procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance clarity in SOPs, and improve efficiency and effectiveness in operations. This involves staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
  • Responsible for proactive reviews of SOP material to ensure current processes for all operational areas of the company are reflected, and to partner to make changes.
  • Perform due diligence for operational areas serving as the subject matter expert by monitoring documents of the Company for conflicts in policy or procedure and proactively responding to any discrepancies or deficiencies by contacting business areas to correct them


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Business, or a technical discipline with 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Two to five years of previous experience in technical writing, specifically in creating SOPs or procedural documents.
  • Experience in developing policies, procedures, manuals, or formal documents.


Knowledge, Skills, Ability
  • Proficiency in using word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word) and possibly other tools such as document management or content management systems (CMS).
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in SOPs.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, understandable procedural documents.
  • Strong research abilities to gather information from subject matter experts (SMEs), technical documentation, and other relevant sources.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple documents, revisions, and updates effectively.
  • Ability to analyze processes and procedures to identify gaps and opportunities in content.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to gather information and clarify requirements.
  • The position requires strong technical writing skills. Should be able to create documents from an adult learning perspective. Must understand style guide and document formatting. Able to tailor messages for the intended audience.
  • Ability to acquire and present, with guidance, technical information through independent reading, interviews with subject matter experts and specialists, observation of tests and experiments, interpretation of diagrams, or other appropriate methods.
  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, adjust to changing business needs, and meet deadlines.


Salary: $66,560 -$94,980
