About The Information
The Information was founded in late 2013 with a simple idea: write deeply reported articles about the technology industry that you won't find elsewhere. Since then, we've become a disruptor in business news that's moved markets, gotten the early scoop on billions of dollars of acquisitions, and told you what's happening inside companies like Apple, Meta and Google. As a subscription-only publication, we aim high and take on challenging stories and adhere to the highest of journalistic standards. What we put into the work is just as in-depth as our output. We've attracted hundreds of thousands of active readers who look to us for breaking news stories and impactful features. As we look to expand our coverage in alignment with the needs of our subscribers, we continue to invest aggressively in our team.
About the role
We're seeking a reporter to lead a new beat at The Information: tech M&A. For years, The Information's scrappy, highly sourced tech and venture reporters have broken news on many M&A deals, from Amazon's Twitch buyout to Google's deal for Mandiant (and several abandoned ones, too). We're looking for a reporter to join this team and bring our deal scoops to a new level. The landscape is tumultuous. This is a great chance for a reporter to be at the center of it all.
The scope of the beat will range from fire sales of venture-backed startups to Salesforce's next target, and could extend to buyouts and initial public offerings. If you geek out on deal terms and love analyzing (or want to learn) how a deal benefits some investors more than others, we're the place for you. And while deal scoops are at the heart of this role, the candidate would be encouraged to go deep with profiles of the institutions making waves on this beat, a key part of The Information's coverage.
