WWL Louisiana, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in New Orleans, is seeking an innovative, future-focused leader to oversee our morning show. In this role, you will own the vision for newscasts that stretch across 4 ½ hours. You must be able to infuse breaking, in-depth news coverage with stories that also capture the unique culture of Southeast Louisiana. WWL Louisiana and TEGNA are re-imagining local news in the digital age - thinking big and being bold to deliver content to our audience on multiple platforms. The ideal Morning Executive Producer can deliver impactful journalism and develop a digital-first road map in line with the strategic vision of our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and execute long-term morning show strategy
  • Oversee the daily editorial process
  • Oversee the on-air execution and provide coaching and showcasing techniques
  • Aggressively cover breaking news for all platforms.
  • Champion story planning and works with entire team to produce engaging storytelling through strong writing, visuals, use of sound, graphics, and other production techniques.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience as a news producer and as a newsroom leader
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair and unique local content, along with community engagement.
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news, and changing events
  • Strong organization, planning skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
  • Knowledge of AP ENPS, Edius, and content management systems a plus
  • Ability to work flexible shift, including holidays, mornings, evenings, and weekends (on occasion) as news warrants
