- Entry-level Engineers/new grads will be coached and challenged through an extensive, and ongoing, training and development period in both design and estimating.
- The Project Engineer (mid to senior-level) is an integral part of ICS (a division of CTL Engineering) and has a significant role in the design and installation of systems. The PE is responsible for designing the systems, preparing CAD system drawings, programming DSP, designing AV computer control systems, meeting with clients, inspecting, testing, working at job sites, and training the customer.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Engineering support to the sales team in a comprehensive, thorough, detailed and time sensitive manner.
- Intensive interface with clients and conducts job site surveys and assessments to document customer requirements and job site conditions for the design process.
- The clients are primarily regional - typically within a 90-minute radius of the office/no extensive traveling.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their AV requirements, objectives, and budget constraints.
- Develop comprehensive AV design proposals/job cost estimates, including system layouts, schematics, equipment lists, and budget estimates, including, but not limited to, audiovisual system diagram flows, Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications and operational capabilities narratives, etc.
- Design, develop, and debug high speed digital circuits, hardware, embedded systems, and digital video interfaces in addition to thermal considerations, layout floor planning, signal integrity, and EMI mitigation.
- Utilize industry-leading software tools for AV system design and simulation.
- Develop (or assist with developing) the Bill of Materials and Statement of Work for each job based on system design and customer requirements.
- Provide technical response to the customer RFP/RFQ/RFI.
- Work closely with internal teams, including Engineers, Technicians, and Project Managers, to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, addressing any design challenges or technical issues that may arise.
- Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget.
- Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices. Correctly interpret multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings and architectural diagrams.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the AV industry, continually seeking opportunities to enhance design capabilities and improve project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or related field preferred, ideally with a focus on/experience in Low Voltage, IT, and AV design. Security System design is a plus.
- PE licensure is not required but is a strong plus for mid to senior-level roles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and AV design tools (e.g., D-Tools, Visio).
- Strong understanding of AV signal flow, audio/video processing, and control systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for AV design and integration.
- Strong hardware debugging skills and root-cause failure analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality, client-centric solutions.
- CTS-D certification preferred.
- Programming experience (C/C#/Crestron/Extron/AMX preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with the design and installation of professional audio, video, network and lighting systems (for senior level position).
- Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and collaborative skills with the ability to prioritize efficiently and effectively within and across departments.
