WSP is currently seeking a Design-Build Project Manager for our Connecticut office. This position is a senior engineering project manager position within the Transportation Business Line. The key focus of this position is to serve as the design team Project Manager (Design Manager) on design-build projects. This role will typically involve leading the design team on heavy highway/bridge or transit/rail design-build projects for DOT, transit and other public sector owners. The successful candidate will be a major participant in all phases of the pursuit, as well throughout design and construction of the project. This position is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join a dynamic office team with experienced professionals in a leadership role.
The position may be in any of the civil/highway, traffic, structural, or transit/rail design practice areas. This person will report within the New England District Practice Area (Connecticut) for either Rail, Structures or Civil Engineering, depending on the individual's technical background.

Your Impact
- Responsibilities include working closely with our contractor clients and proactively managing the design project team to achieve the overall project delivery, quality and financial objectives.
- The role involves being highly responsive in supporting our Contractor clients, while also being cognizant of the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with our Owner clients.
- This position also includes participating in business development activities to help identify and position the company to compete and win new projects in the transportation market in New England. This includes developing and maintaining key client relationships, gathering and disseminating market/pursuit intelligence, building the pursuit pipeline and leading and\or participating in proposal and interview efforts.

- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural engineering, or equivalent degree.
- 12+ years of relevant work experience in civil or structural engineering; with 5+ years of project management experience, including managing multi-discipline projects and subconsultants.
- Experience serving as the design manager (or deputy) for design-build projects.
- Professional registration (PE) is required. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain licensure in Connecticut (and potentially other the New England states) within the first 12 months of employment.
- Ability to travel within Connecticut up to approximately 20% of the time.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Well established client relationships with public agency clients and contractors - Connecticut, New England, Northeast preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of the design standards and protocols of a state DOT - Connecticut, New England, Northeast preferred.
- Experience with cloud collaboration software such as SharePoint, ProjectWise and BIM360.
- Experience with engineering software such as MicroStation/Inroads/OpenRoads and Autodesk/Civil 3D.
