We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy to assist team members with developing the brand marketing strategy for the Phoenix Suns. Reporting to the Vice President of Brand Marketing, this role will oversee the core functions of the Brand Marketing team and key leader in building a world-class working experience for our team members. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy to assist team members with developing the brand marketing strategy for the Phoenix Suns. Reporting to the Vice President of Brand Marketing, this role will oversee the core functions of the Brand Marketing team and key leader in building a world-class working experience for our team members. What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with Marketing team leadership to craft the long-term brand strategy and positioning for the Suns.
- Help lead the development of brand, messaging, and creative strategies that optimally position the Phoenix Suns to connect with our audience in meaningful and impactful ways.
- Develop and present insightful creative briefs that inspire integrated creative teams to successfully concept "big ideas", activations, and advertising to bring the brand to life across touchpoints.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Brand Marketing department including progress and performance to ensure assigned work is completed correctly and on time.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop marketing plans and activations to support greater organizational brand strategy and goals.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to develop marketing staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
- Oversee the development of detailed promotional and advertising plans identifying targeted demographics for all team initiatives and events.
- Strategize and research new marketing trends and practices to apply to team products, shows, events, and designed to acquire and engage fans while driving brand affinity and loyalty.
- Serve as primary contact for media buying agency placing paid/trade media through various outlets such as TV, radio, OOH, social media, digital, print, and more.
- Oversee all ticket sales marketing efforts including single game, memberships, premium seating, suites, and retention.
- Oversee all multi-cultural marketing initiatives.
- Develop marketing platforms, campaigns and themes that drive ticket sales, partner integrations and merchandise sales.
- Partner with Business Intelligence and Ticketing to support dynamic pricing and advertising in line with ongoing demand and inventory trends.
- Background in developing brand strategy and brand campaigns for a public-facing brand or organization.
- Experience developing creative briefs and positioning statements.
- Experience conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research with a curiosity for uncovering and applying insights.
- Experience leading a multi-faceted and dynamic team.
- Ability to think strategically, consider impacts and dependencies as well as resource needs to achieve targeted objectives and timelines.
- Membership or loyalty program experience is a plus.
- Comfortable navigating difficult moments and high-stress situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Great verbal and written communication with diverse stakeholders and channels
- Be a demonstrated self-starter.
- Ability to set and manage expectations throughout project lifecycles.
- Ability to support projects and troubleshoot issues that occasionally occur during evenings, weekends, game nights, arena events, etc.
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of leadership experience coordinating multi-functional teams and cross-channel marketing
- Ability to transit throughout the arena for long periods of time.
- This position works mainly indoors, removed from extreme weather; exposure to weather is < 5%
- S-Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
- Must be able to carry on a conversation both on the phone and in-person.
