E-Commerce Organic Marketing Intern
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Boston, MA, United States
The Operations division and the Retail department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, are primarily responsible for offering an engaging and enriching Museum experience that exceeds expectations. Our mission is to create a shop that educates, entertains, enlightens, and encourages awareness of the rich artistic heritage represented by the Museum's collection. Specifically within e-commerce, the Retail department strives to retain and build our base of visitors to our shop website. This requires organic marketing campaigns in the form of emails, social media posts, and SEO content.
The Retail department seeks an enthusiastic intern to assist the E-Commerce efforts within the retail department, specifically focusing on organic strategy. The intern will assist with both the front end and back end of the shop website to improve our user awareness and retention by bolstering our organic web presence. The Retail department expects this intern to help our department grow its online presence with the use of organic keywords, blogs, and social media content. Reporting will be conducted on key metrics such as site traffic and keyword ranking. Organic marketing strategy will then be developed and adjusted through our data and reporting.
Under the supervision of the E-Commerce Manager, the intern will also work to sharpen marketing strategy across all platforms as we market products related to the spring 2025 MFA exhibitions. The selected intern will gain experience in working and collaborating with persons from different backgrounds and with different working styles, as well as skills in problem solving, project management, and simultaneously completing multiple tasks or assignments.
The selected intern will gain first-hand experience creating and executing SEO strategy such as managing search keywords and writing online blogs as well as experience with key museum databases and digital platforms and applications as well as key SEO databases. Additionally, the intern will gain experience loading items into our retail database and making them live on mfashop.com. Through these experiences, the intern will come to understand what it means to collaborate across museum departments, and will hone their planning and execution, and networking skills, and will become more practiced in content creation in blogs, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
The ideal candidates must commit to work onsite 12-20 hours per week, (within Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm parameters), from Jan 24 through April 25, 2025, including attendance at the Museum Pathways & Practices professional development course from 12:30-2:30pm on the following Fridays: Jan 31; Feb 7; Feb 14; Feb 21; Feb 28; Apr 4; Apr 11; Apr 18; and Apr 25.
The intern will be paid at a rate of $16.80 per hour, and will receive a $90 per month transportation subsidy. (*The subsidy is subject to taxes.)
