Restaurant Expeditor Job Reference Number: 24529 Employment Type: Part-Time Segment: Dining & Events Brand: Constellation State: New York (US-NY) The Role at a glance: Hudson Garden Grill, located within the prestigious New York Botanical Garden, is a destination restaurant renowned for its plant-forward cuisine and seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Expediter to ensure the seamless flow of service between the kitchen and the front of house. As the vital link between our culinary team and service staff, the Expediter is responsible for coordinating the timing and delivery of dishes to ensure every plate is perfectly presented and delivered at the optimal moment. This position requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a keen eye for detail to ensure the highest standards of quality and presentation are consistently met. Compensation is $18-$22 an hour. Key Responsibilities: Efficient Service Flow: Organize and manage the efficient flow of dishes from the kitchen to the dining room, ensuring that all dishes are delivered in a timely manner and in the correct order. Quality Control: Inspect each dish for quality, presentation, and adherence to the restaurant’s standards before sending it out to guests. Timing & Coordination: Work closely with chefs, line cooks, and servers to ensure the right pace and timing of food delivery to tables, managing any delays with clear communication. Communication Hub: Serve as the communication hub between the kitchen and service staff, providing clear and concise information regarding food status, special orders, and any menu changes. Plate Accuracy: Ensure all plates are complete, correct, and meet the required presentation standards before leaving the pass. Address any discrepancies or errors quickly and efficiently. Menu Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of the menu, including all ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens to assist servers and guests with any questions or special requests. Troubleshooting: Handle any immediate issues, such as delayed orders, special requests, or table changes, by communicating clearly with both kitchen staff and servers to resolve matters swiftly. Support Teamwork: Foster a collaborative atmosphere between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure a smooth, exceptional guest experience. Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the pass is kept clean, organized, and free from clutter, adhering to sanitation and safety standards. Qualifications Experience: 2+ years of experience as an Expediter or similar role in a high-end, high-volume restaurant. Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to relay information between the kitchen and front-of-house teams. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, especially under pressure. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a calm demeanor. Attention to detail and a passion for ensuring that every dish leaves the kitchen perfectly. Team Player: Collaborative, team-oriented attitude, with the ability to motivate and support both culinary and service teams. Knowledge: Strong understanding of fine dining service standards, food presentation, and menu offerings, including ingredients and preparation techniques.
