The Strategic Communications and Marketing department at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Marketing Strategist - Adventure WV and Campus Recreation. About the Opportunity Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing- Student Life, with a dotted line reporting relationship with the Directors of Adventure WV and Campus Recreation, this individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring marketing and social media to promote Campus Recreation and Adventure WV. The Marketing Strategist is responsible for the development and implementation of unique and cutting-edge marketing plans and tactics to support the brand, goals, and enrollment of the Adventure WV and Campus Recreation programs. Following our University guidelines, the position is responsible for managing the development of printed materials, websites, social media, advertisements, online marketing, event promotion, and any other programs that help promote a positive image for Adventure WV and Campus Recreation. The position is part of the Strategic Communications & Marketing team and reports directly to the Director of Marketing - Student Life and works closely with the Director of Adventure WV and the Director of Campus Recreation. This position will collaborate with the Strategic Communications & Marketing Student Life team and also with the Adventure WV and Campus Recreation extended teams.

What you'll do: Develops and execute strategic marketing and communications plans to support Campus Recreation and Adventure WV's goals and objectives including recruitment, enrollment and attendance goals.
Handles day-to-day development and management of communications and marketing plans for Campus Recreation and Adventure WV, as assigned by Marketing Director.
Serve as the main project manager and liaison between Strategic Communications & Marketing and Campus Recreation and Adventure WV.
Manage projects from beginning to end and monitor progress and outcomes based on set goals and deadlines
Fosters and builds excellent partnerships with on- and- off-campus organizations.
Creates and develops marketing collateral including written copy, photos, video, graphic design, etc.
Ensures brand consistency across all marketing activities (i.e. website, email, social media, events, flyers, etc.) when executing communications and marketing plans.
Establish benchmarks to determine metrics and ROI for improvement and effectiveness of marketing tactics.
Conduct post-campaign analysis for all projects and campaigns; develop reports and best practices based on insights.
Manage the social media presence for Campus Recreation and Adventure WV which includes capturing photo and video and content creation. Collaborate with Strategic Communications & Marketing social media teams, as needed.
Meet regularly with Campus Recreation and Adventure WV teams for marketing project intake and review; assist and assess events.
Report regularly on key marketing initiatives, including reporting on operating budgets and preparation of financial reports.
Attend relevant meetings and events, as assigned by directors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field. A minimum of two (2) years of related experience required Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience in marketing goal development, tracking and analytics
Demonstrated ability to develop strong customer relationships
Ability to develop and execute multichannel communications and marketing plans
Ability to clearly articulate (written and verbal) strategies and plans to achieve goals
Demonstrated ability to develop written communications
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively
Strong analytical skills, problem-solving and high attention to detail
Ability to adhere to WVU brand guidelines
Ability to keep abreast of changing technology as it impacts marketing and make necessary changes
