Location:

Preference for candidate to be located and based out of one of our 3 offices in either Las Colinas, TX, Austin, TX, or Ottawa, ON.

Position Summary:

Trend Micro is seeking a talented Senior Visual Designer with a strong focus on branding, digital storytelling and UI design for the web. The ideal candidate will be skilled in crafting visually engaging digital experiences, understanding and applying established design systems, and handling incremental UI updates. While the primary focus is on visual design, a foundational understanding of broader UX principles is preferred. This role requires a designer who can work independently in Figma, contribute to cross-functional team efforts, and maintain brand consistency across screen sizes.

Responsibilities:

UI Design and Visual Identity:

Develop visually compelling designs that align with Trend's brand identity. Create user interfaces that enhance the overall digital experience, keeping aesthetic and usability top-of-mind.

Branding:

Implement and refine brand guidelines within digital properties, ensuring a consistent visual presence across all touchpoints.

Design System Management:

Work with and contribute to Trend's design system, ensuring that components are scalable, user-friendly, and visually cohesive.

Incremental UI Updates:

Execute small-to-medium changes to existing UI elements, refining visual details, improving accessibility, and enhancing the user experience with each update.

Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into visually appealing designs that support user needs and business goals.

Prototyping:

Create high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, supporting design explorations and aiding cross-functional teams in understanding visual flow and user interactions.

Foundational UX Knowledge:

Apply a basic understanding of UX concepts to create intuitive and user-centered visual designs. While UX is not the primary focus, awareness of principles like user flows, accessibility, and interaction design is beneficial.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

5+ years in visual/UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in branding, visual design, and UI elements with experience in a B2B environment.

Technical Proficiency:

Advanced skills in Figma, with experience in creating and managing components within a design system. Proficiency with key applications within Adobe's Creative Suite is also expected; Photoshop, Illustrator and XD for legacy files.

Branding Knowledge:

Proficiency in applying and evolving brand guidelines within digital spaces.

Storytelling:

Able to visually craft compelling product stories in close collaboration with our content writers.

UI Design:

Demonstrated experience in designing user interfaces for web or mobile applications, with a focus on clean, modern aesthetics.

Collaboration Skills:

Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment.

Attention to Detail:

Keen eye for design details, typography, color, and spacing, ensuring pixel-perfect designs.

Adaptability:

Ability to balance quick turnaround times for incremental updates with the longer-term demands of design system management.

Preferred Skills:

UX Fundamentals:

Basic knowledge of UX principles, including user flows, accessibility considerations, and interaction patterns.

Motion Design and Prototyping:

Familiarity with motion graphics and the ability to create interactive prototypes is a plus.

Cybersecurity knowledge:

While existing cybersecurity knowledge will make the onboarding process easier, it is not a prerequisite for the role. The ideal candidate will be able to get up-to-speed on the core principles quickly.

Trend Micro Canada is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary for this role is CAD $85,000.00 - $95,000.00. A candidate's final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors to include, but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, and certifications
