in Washington, DC has an immediate opening for Special Projects Producer! The ideal candidate should have political and investigative producing experience and solid news judgement. You will assist in researching, producing and writing content daily on all of our platforms. We are looking for a strong journalist who thrives on digging for information and isn’t afraid to press for answers. You must work well under deadline. This position plays a key role in our election coverage from organizing forums and debates to producing election specials and graphics. Our Special Projects Producer will also help put together quarterly specials and Town Halls.
You must have strong multi-tasking skills and have flexible work hours which will include evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities:
Research, produce & write content on multiple platforms daily
Produce Election coverage, debates, forums and specials
Produce quarterly sponsored specials
Produce Town Halls
Field Produce with anchors and reporters
Collaborate with our digital teams and Executive Producers on content creation
Order and build graphics to showcase our content
Have solid working knowledge of government operations and local politics
Be able to develop a network of news sources
Conduct interviews
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a news producer/field producer
Ability to manipulate and build rundowns in iNews, write, graphics, and chyrons
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
Advanced writing skills
Be able to perform well under deadline
Four-year degree in journalism or another pertinent field is required
Must be flexible on work hours
Experience analyzing data and Excel spreadsheets preferred
