Summary: We are seeking a Director, User Experience Design to join Onbe’s Product Management team. This position will lead the end-to-end user experience design process, from research and concept development to design execution and usability testing. You will mentor and grow a team of UX design team of up to two, ensuring that they have the tools and support they need to succeed. This is a partial player-coach role, where you will be expected to contribute design artifacts alongside the team as needed.
This position is remote, but it's essential that candidates reside within 30 miles of the Metro Boston area. The role may occasionally require in-person meetups and travel.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive UI/UX strategy that aligns with Onbe’s vision and goals, fostering collaboration and innovation across cross-functional teams.
Create and uphold UI/UX processes, methodologies, and successful approaches to encourage user-focused design, maintain uniformity, and enhance the flow between design systems.
Lead the creation and management of a design system, ensuring adherence to design principles and seamless integration across development teams.
Develop and implement user research processes to guide design decisions, incorporating user insights, competitive benchmarks, and design thinking at the beginning of the design process.
Stay updated on design trends and technologies to improve user experience, applying standard methodologies from both within and outside the financial services industry.
Collaborate with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to develop creative design solutions that meet user, product, and business requirements.
Take ownership of design projects, effectively managing resources and ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
Collaborate with team members, customers, and partners to gather insights from digital analytics, user testing, and input, and use this information to drive improvements.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in UX, including leadership roles in product design and development required.
Bachelors Degree Required.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful UX strategies and practices, including both brand-new practices as well as strategies to implement enterprise-wide design system changes.
Solid understanding of user-centric design principles and methodologies, including design thinking innovation techniques, generative user research and co-creation, rapid prototyping, usability testing, and accessibility standards.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, senior stakeholders, and external partners.
Solid domain knowledge in the financial services industry.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing demands. Skilled at execution as well as ideation.
Proficient with standard design and development software such as JIRA and Miro.
Ability to create a safe and engaging environment to get the most out of the team and have fun along the way.
The base salary range for this position is between $145,170 to $189,000 plus commission. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, business needs, and market demand.
