The Inside View is an expanding Interior Design firm with a wide range of diverse commercial, residential and health care clients. We strive to provide excellent Interior Design services to our clients and are looking for a Junior Designer that shares our same passion, creativity and professionalism to join our team. Our smaller sized firm offers unique opportunities for young professionals to work closely on our design projects. As a Junior Designer you will be working under the direct supervision of a Senior Designer. You will perform a broad variety of tasks supporting our design process. We are conveniently located near commuter rail, major highways, shops and restaurants in downtown Haverhill. The Junior Interior Designer is responsible for assisting the Designers in all aspects of the design process, from the beginning stages through final installation. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Lead Designers and Purchasing Team to oversee multiple projects. This includes executing CD sets in Revit, creating finish schedules, implementing renderings, and sourcing finishes, etc. This role will also devote a portion of its time each week to management of vendor relationships, organizing the design library, writing specifications, and sourcing new products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates as a draftsman under the supervision of others; including documenting existing conditions, field measurements, and picking up redlines.
- Able to take existing drawings and input into Revit.
- Able to develop a basic understanding of how codes and standards affect design, including layout of spaces and selection of materials.
§ Following instructions from a supervisor, candidate is capable of assembling the organization and components of an SD, DD, and CD set
§ Coordinating finish schedules and distribution plans
§ Observes design discussion about the development of elevations, plans, and sections at the schematic level
§ Able to research trends and assist with data collection as directed
§ Selecting design components and finishes guided by senior staff
§ Able to conduct research on FF&E
§ Guided by senior staff to aid in design, compile data, do area take-offs, prepare plans/renderings, models, graphics, and design presentations
§ Possess basic digital drawing skills and knowledge.
- Possess Revit, CADD, and Adobe/Blue Beam skills
- Competence of software used for presentation and studies through multiple mediums
- Ability to create diagrams, renderings, and drawings to effectively communicate the design concepts
- Understanding of BIM and building content (i.e., families)
- Digital file management and standards
§ Creating project binders
§ Assisting with design installations and deliveries
§ Observing and attending meetings with contractors, clients, and sales representatives
§ Measuring spaces for floor plans and feature areas
§ Maintaining the design library
§ Assisting with social media efforts
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Supervision on a daily basis or when assigned tasks and non-routine work to continually develop a depth of knowledge and skills.
- Can multi-task between different duties and projects while communicating the required time to complete tasks to senior staff.
- Tasks directed and time managed by others. Able to complete assignments on time.
- Limited exposure to clients and contractors.
- Begins to develop contacts and relationships with industry reps
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Bachelor of Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited program
§ 1-3+ years of experience (or internship experience) in the Interior Design industry
§ High proficiency in Revit is a must, Photoshop, Microsoft Office
§ Highly detail-oriented & organized
§ Great Interpersonal Skills
§ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
§ Passion for interior design and ability to take initiative
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
§ Strong communication and presentation skills in Adobe and Microsoft Suites
§ Candidates must submit a resume and work samples when applying for this position
§ Revit experience is required
Job Type: 40 hours
