Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION
To give oversight and leadership for the GC2 Press publications and ministry resources development.
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS
1. Direct and coordinate all aspects of GC2 Press publishing under the supervision of the Center Director. This includes the execution of objectives, plans, policies, and budgets.
- Lead the development and administration of the annual budget.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans, processes, and policies to accomplish the work.
- Provide regular reports of the progress of work as required.
- Stay abreast of trends and changes in the customer market and recommend strategies to address needs.
2. Provide editorial guidance and supervision for all GC2 Press publications as editor-in-chief.
3. Manage and monitor the full process of the GC2 Press production including:
- Monitor the status of current contracts and obligations and productions in progress
- Initiate development of new products and updates to current products, benchmarking with current best-in-class publications
- Recruit, contract, and manage writers, artists, printers, and other vendors as needed to publish the GC2 Press products.
- Create and manage the marketing and promotional activities of GC2 Press.
4. Work with other BGCT offices to ensure coordination of the full process of order fulfillment, inventory control, shipping, and invoicing.
5. Provide direction and supervision of direct reports:
- Oversee professional growth and development.
- Develop and communicate performance goals and objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate performance, providing feedback and coaching; conduct annual performance evaluations.
- Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct reports are defined and effectively communicated.
- Provide leadership and clear direction to align staff performance with the organization’s mission, vision, values, priorities, and strategies.
6. Cooperate and coordinate effectively with the leaders of other teams and units to:
- Ensure excellence in service delivery, research and development, and developing leaders.
- Understand the needs of constituents and stakeholders.
7. Prepare and proofread letters, memos, emails, and other correspondence accurately and timely.
8. Answer phones promptly, take accurate messages, and respond to requests for information timely.
9. Participate in training as required.
10. Maintain compliance with The Baptist General Convention of Texas’ employee policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
11. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
1.In-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge, generally acquired through earned bachelor’s degree and ten years of experience in a related field of publishing. Master’s degree preferred.
2.Active membership in a church supportive of the BGCT during employment.
3.Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally, with an understanding and commitment to Baptist distinctives.
4.Competent in biblical interpretation, including knowledge of biblical languages.
5.Ability to plan, write, evaluate and edit study materials that are educationally and biblically sound, and appealing to the target audience. Process must be sensitive to writers, customers, and needs of Texas Baptists.
6.Proficient competence in all areas of designing, editing, printing, and marketing of materials.
7.Appropriate understanding of the literature, product resources, and network of contacts in the publishing industry.
8.Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
9.Highly proficient mediation and conflict resolution skills for the workplace.
10.Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to clergy, laity, institutional staff/faculty, various Baptist organizations, churches of all sizes, cultural identities and worship styles, board and council members.
11.Proficient ability to plan, administer, and report budgets.
12.Ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings, conferences, workshops, and retreats as required.
13.Ability to develop effective and appropriate marketing and communications plans.
14.Ability to speak, read, and write English.
15.Ability to speak clearly and make self-understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone.
16.Excellent, professional written and oral communication skills.
17.Ability to maintain confidentiality.
18.Ability to effectively manage personnel, including but not limited to staff selection, development, motivation, scheduling, and evaluation.

20.Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight and weekend stays.
21.Ability to effectively work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change.
22.Ability to understand and relate to specific ideas and the concepts behind them; ability to remember verbal and written tasks / assignments from a few hours to several days.
23.Ability to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 45-60 minutes at a time on a continuous basis.
24.Requires excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
25.Proficient working knowledge of various software, including but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, Dropbox, Google Mail, Salesforce, and web-based sites.
26. Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
