Head of Marketing at Proactive
Our company, Proactive Technology Management, is searching for a great Head of Marketing to join our team.We are an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP), founded and based in the Detroit area, with almost 100 employees on our team.We are primarily Michigan based, but we have a significant number of employees in several other states around the USA.
We're looking for someone to take our Brand Awareness to the next level. The primary marketing elements we are expecting here are Content Creation (LinkedIn, Blog, Company Newsletter) and SEO. The primary deliverable of this role in the next 2-3 years is to grow our client base in three major metro areas around the USA - the first being Grand Rapids.We expect you to develop, implement, and iterate Content Strategies and SEO efforts that generate traffic, engagement, and eventually leads in these three cities.
The main abilities we are looking for:
- Marketing Strategy Development
- Word Press understanding - sufficient for improving the look and features of our existing website
- SEO - able to improve our rankings
- Copywriting ability - able to create posts, articles and other copy heavy content that effectively captures to voice and personality of Proactive
- Graphics - basic ability to envision and manage creation of Infographics, Proposal Templates, Simple Animations and any other simple visual elements that will support and improve our Sales process.
We are also interested in someone with a little bit of B2B business development experience, who isn't afraid to take an incoming warm call or setup an initial consultation, and work with our sales team to move help transform a Lead into a Client.
Anyone applying to this role should have at least a few years of full time, direct, professional marketing experience in most of the above areas.While it would be great if you had experience specifically in the IT MSP space, it's more critical that you have quantifiable experience in the type of marketing support we are looking for.Ideally you have a portfolio or other evidence that demonstrates your history of quality work and tangible results.We'd prefer that you have experience with a similar business model to Proactive - think B2B professional services.
You'll report directly to our owners, and work directly with our sales leads, as well as a couple specialized team leads. While you will leverage elements of the team around you, this is mostly a solo, individual contributor role.You will have to be motivated, self-directed, hands-on, and confident in both setting a plan and seeing it through to completion.

This role will primarily be remote, but there will be infrequent times you may need to work in person with team members in our Metro Detroit offices (Detroit, Grosse Pointe, Troy).We would like to find someone who is ok making the occasional trip to the east side of the state, while being primarily based on the west side.
We expect this role to take about 40-50 hours per week.We do not anticipate any long distance travel in this role (with the exception of possibly staying in Detroit 1 night from time to time).
Salary for this role is somewhere around $75-95k, depending on your experience. This is a fully benefited position - health, dental, vision, 401k, vacation time, holidays.This is also a long term position - our hope is that this is the first hire towards establishing a small marketing department as our company continues to grow.
