The Hardesty Regional Library Reference (Genealogy) Library Associate welcomes customers and ensures that all have an extraordinary experience that supports their needs while educating, training, suggesting, and answering technology, mobile device, e-reader, reference, readers' advisory, and genealogy questions; is flexible and adaptable throughout the workday, dividing their time between the genealogy and other library departments, in the type and location (zone) of work to be accomplished. Proactively connects customers with services and assists customers in the discovery of all services TCCL offers, including with on-call professional staff in the branch and system-wide. Always looks for ways to improve workflow and anticipate customer needs and trends.

Library Associate - Reference (Genealogy)
Location: Hardesty Regional Library 8316 E 93rd St. Tulsa, OK. 74133
Salary: $21.10/hr.
Status: Full Time - 40 hr./week
Schedule:
Monday 12 pm - 9 pm
Tuesday 8 am - 5 pm
Wednesday 8 am - 5 pm
Thursday 8 am - 5 pm
Rotating Friday 9 am - 6 pm and Saturday 8 am - 5 pm
Occasional Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm
A selection of job qualifications and job functions for this position are as follows:
- Bachelors' degree required.
- May require additional education in specialized area or fluency in second language.
- No previous experience required; library, retail, or customer service experience preferred
- Assists and trains library customers in utilizing self-service features for selecting and locating library materials, conducting research, and discovering reference information for regular or specialized collections with a primary focus on assisting genealogy researchers and instructing them on specialized databases and using the genealogy print collection.
- Assists with physical maintenance of the genealogy collection; shelves materials, shelf reads, moves materials as necessary; identifies missing items and attempts to locate vendors to replace them; works with the cataloging department on classification issues and problems;
- Performs a variety of clerical duties including checking in new books and books returned from the bindery, checking in new magazines and working with the serials department to request missing issues;
- Answers genealogy letter and email research requests and searchers for ArticleReach photocopy requests;
- May serve as Person in Charge of location on occasion;
- Thorough understanding of genealogy research methods, databases, and resources and ability to apply that knowledge assisting genealogy customers with their research questions and problems.
