NRDC is seeking a Media Associate to work with the Communications team in our Washington or New York office.
Position Summary
The Media Associate will work across the media team to support media content creation and distribution for regional and national policy initiatives, including drafting messaging materials, developing outreach lists, crafting project timelines and plans, and coordinating associated internal and external communications as relevant.
Responsibilities

* Draft, edit, format, produce and distribute press releases and other messaging materials, including blogs, op-eds, editorial board memos, and reports
* Field inquiries from the press and general public by phone and email, efficiently and with a professional demeanor.
* Coordinate digital, broadcast and print interviews.
* Build and maintain press lists through Cision; posting releases on NRDC's website.
* Help craft outreach plans and timelines in partnership with media project leads.
* Pitch stories and engage in follow up with reporters.
* Track and analyze media coverage and compile reports; conduct research on overall media landscape and specific policy issues.
* Help draft and circulate summaries of weekly press hits.
* Schedule and facilitate meetings.
* Develop strong relationships and drive collaboration with internal and external partners.
* Provide day-to-day logistical support.

Qualifications
Education & Experience Required:
* Bachelor's Degree
* 1-3 years of relevant experience
* And/or equivalent education or experience

* Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple people and deliverables, and to perform or quickly learn new tasks, systems,?and technologies.

* Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and shifting requests in a fast-paced environment.

* High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to knowledge of or ability to learn relevant industry and NRDC specific software and platforms.

* Ability to occasionally travel to other NRDC U.S. based offices, approximately 5% annually.

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $65,000 to $75,000.
NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month
