We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting functions while supporting the financial operations of our non-profit organization. This role will blend accounting and finance responsibilities, ensuring the organization's financial health and compliance with applicable regulations
OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:
Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to deadlines.
Assist in the preparation of the organization's financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships to ensure the financial stability of the organization.
Support the Director of Finance in developing financial strategies and ensuring the alignment of financial operations with the organization's mission.
Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards, including grant management, fund accounting, and donor reporting.
Assist in managing the annual audit process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and available for auditors.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making for both the executive team and program leaders.
Work with fundraising and development teams to track donations, grants, and restricted funds, ensuring accurate financial reporting for donors.
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff to ensure the effective operation of the finance department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in the non-profit sector.
Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, including fund accounting, grant management, and financial reporting.
Experience managing and supervising accounting teams.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
