Our client, a family-owned business based in Bridgeport, CT, is seeking a
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
to oversee its financial operations, real estate entities, and 50+ restaurant chain locations. This is a full-time, on-site position open due to the upcoming retirement of the current VP of Finance in May 2025.
With over 40 years of experience, the outgoing VP of Finance has meticulously prepared for this transition, outlining all responsibilities to ensure the new hire can quickly integrate into the role.
About the Role
The CFO will be an all-encompassing, hands-on leader with oversight of accounting, human resources, legal, banking, and real estate operations. This individual will manage a team comprising a Controller, seven Bookkeepers, and additional clerical staff while ensuring the organization operates efficiently across all financial and administrative functions.
This position is ideal for a dynamic leader with exceptional people skills, a collaborative mindset, and a proven ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight :
Manage accounting functions, including cash flow, borrowing activities, insurance, and tax compliance.
Supervise quarterly budgeting processes and purchasing activities.
Handle banking relationships and legal matters.
Real Estate Operations : Oversee financial management for the company's real estate entities.
Human Resources : Provide leadership and strategic oversight of HR functions.
Business Collaboration :
Participate in weekly Monday meetings with owners to address and resolve business challenges.
Collaborate with outsourced IT consultants to ensure smooth technological operations.
Leadership :
Directly supervise the Controller, Bookkeepers, and support staff.
Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
CPA, MBA, or bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
Proven track record of longevity in previous roles (no "jumpy" resumes).
Experience in legal, banking, and real estate operations.
Strong hands-on approach to problem-solving and team management.
Familiarity with Sage accounting software is a plus.
Preferred Background
The ideal candidate may have a background in public accounting and should demonstrate a mix of strategic financial expertise and operational experience.
