A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's academic programs and collaborate with staff and administration to ensure students and guests are provided with opportunities and services to help them succeed.
Essential Duties:
* Instruct patrons on how to use reference sources, card catalogs, and automated information systems. Assist with developing and delivering workshops and other training
* Lend, collect books, periodicals, videotapes, and other materials at circulation desk.
* Register new patrons and issue borrower identification cards that permit patrons to borrow books and other materials.
* Operate and maintain audiovisual equipment.
* Assists in assuring accurate library shelving by shelf-reading and reshelving of materials, as needed.
* Oversees the full range of circulation desk procedures using an automated circulation system.
* Participate and engage in pertinent meetings and trainings as requested.
* Ability to manage, prioritize and bring to completion multiple projects.

* Performs miscellaneous and other job-related duties as assigned.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the University Library services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Foster and maintain relationships with the university community as well as peer institutions involved in humanities research and scholarship. Includes guiding simultaneous complex projects from inception through delivery and support.
* Requires independent effort with limited direct supervision; uses original thinking to develop, recommend or initiate the library procedures.
* Demonstrate ability to successfully direct, coordinate, and strategically integrate multiple developmental, enhancement, and/or modification projects at an institutional level.
* Knowledge and understanding of organization structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills. The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
* Display behavior consistent with professional ethics and FMU faculty and staff handbook.
* Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Qualifications:
* High School diploma and/or GED plus two (2) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Technical Certificate is a plus.
* Demonstrate experience with digital humanities / digital scholarship tool and methodologies.
* Strong sense of teamwork and ability to work across diverse departments and individual library and university stakeholders.
* Excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Must be able to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community.
* Knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures or operations requiring considerable training and/or experience to perform the full range of standard assignments and resolve recurring problems. Or, skill, acquired through considerable training and experience, to operate varied equipment.
* Extensive hours and weekends will be required at times.
