The Prunty-Russo Media Lab Specialist at Alfred University is responsible for overseeing the innovative and strategic development of the Media Lab, ensuring it serves as a leading-edge facility for digital media content creation and education.
Salary/Rate: $24.73-$27.47, 35 hours per week

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. Stairs and uneven surfaces may be present; artificial lifts, etc. may or may not be available. The position may require the incumbent to walk outdoors in all types of weather to other buildings or offices located on the campus. The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.

Lab Management:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Prunty Russo Media Lab
- Supervising the maintenance and upgrade of lab equipment to keep pace with industry standards
- The Specialist ensures the Media Lab serves the creative and technical needs of students, faculty, and staff
- Provide training for Work Study program students
- Facilitate student maintenance of the media hub website
- Oversight of students borrowing equipment/space
- Five years of experience producing digital media content and/or teaching the use of digital media tools
- Expert knowledge and proficiency in digital media content production, including digital video, audio, and print media. This includes proficiency in using Adobe Audition, GarageBand, Audacity, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve1 Adobe lnDesign1 Canva, Buffer, and Meta Business Suite
- Skilled in multimedia and transmedia content design, leveraging tools like Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, lnDesign) for content creation
- Collaborate with ITS on any projects related to the Media Lab
- Be a member of the Media Lab Steering Committee (which conducts strategic discussions to align the media lab's activities with the broader goals of the Division of Communication Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), and contribute to implementing the collaborative vision of the Steering Committee
- Lead both formal instruction in classroom settings and informal training through workshops, demonstrations, and one-on-one mentorship
- Develop one credit class to teach students fundamentals of media lab equipment and audio- and video-editing
- Cultivate an environment of continuous learning
- Contribute to AU's proposed Al & Digital Literacy Certificate program aimed at both faculty and students. This program is a combination of practical and theoretical coursework designed to improve digital proficiency and adaptability in the rapidly changing media environment
- The program would include a two-credit hour Media Lab course that focuses on a different skill each month. The Prunty-Russo Media Lab Specialist (this position) would teach that class
- Audio {Podcasting, Broadcasting): Develop skills in audio production using tools like Adobe Audition, GarageBand, Audacity, and other broadcasting software
- Video {Field and Studio Video Production): Learn both field and studio-based video production, including editing with software such as Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
- Digital Journalism Projects: Participate in digital journalism projects that incorporate skills learned from the first two units. Cover local stories and profiles. Emerge with Adobe lnDesign skills
- Social Media Content Creation: Develop and execute social media strategies and campaigns. Create engaging content for platforms such as lnstagram, TikTok, and Facebook including graphic design, video clips, and analytics using tools like Canva, Buffer, and Meta Business Suite
