Position: We are looking for a Studio Technical Manager .
Please note: this role is for a 6-month contract and reports on-site to our client's office in Santa Monica, CA.
This contract role supports our client's Global Studio Services team, and you’ll be responsible for maintaining the resilience and integrity of their production spaces and systems, managing organizational standards for equipment inventory and repairs. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for gear prep for onsite and offsite productions developing and enforcing quality control standards. The production spaces cover approximately 4300 sq ft. includes cyc wall, sound stage, pocket-studio, audio booth, equipment and control rooms equipped with grid and DMX lighting infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities: Maintain the integrity of the physical infrastructure and systems of the equipment storage rooms (cages), cyc wall, soundstage, pocket-studio, audio booth and temporary studio spaces.
Oversee and/or participate in gear prep for onsite and offsite productions.
Develop and enforce quality control standards for gear prep and return.
Document and update best practices for onsite and offsite technical workflows to maintain high-quality standards while supporting the visions of our internal partners and production teams.
Communicate with internal partners and team members regarding new or updated best practices to ensure equipment and systems are used in the appropriate manner.
Responsible for technology upgrades i.e., firmware updates, managing and outsourcing repairs.
Design and develop organizational layouts and standards for studio equipment and storage rooms.
Responsible for executing and overseeing new purchases for equipment and technical furniture.
Manage studio equipment inventory via EZ-office software.
Support the production team in sourcing crew for onsite productions.
Collaborate with producers, internal partners, and vendors for equipment needs.
Use Jira to input studio production data, communicate with internal partners and team members.
Assist with studio scheduling and illustrate metrics via visual dashboards.
Liaise with engineers and other vendors to maintain support with our current infrastructure.
Advise and support the design and implementation of new and/or upgrades to existing studio builds in Santa Monica Headquarters and other locations i.e., New York City, London.
Stay current on latest technology trends and evaluate new products to advise on risks and benefits.
Qualifications and Experience: A self-starter who works well without supervision, approaches problem solving proactively with the ability to fix post issues quickly and maintain professionalism and communication.
Advanced technical knowledge on camera, lighting systems, and video distribution.
Experience in developing quality control workflows for equipment and production systems.
Experience in designing intuitive equipment storage rooms and workflows.
Great troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Great time management skills; can shuffle tasks and resources while communicating to colleagues.
Service lead experience with strong vendor management skills.
Experience working with rental houses and studios is a must. Experience working with DMX systems and lighting board consoles.
Minimum Qualifications: 4+ years of experience working in production/rental houses.
2+ years experience on film sets.
Preferred Qualifications: A proven technical background in principal production and inventory management.
Principal production experience in tech media, streaming or creative marketing is preferred.
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs unassisted.
Experience working in a start-up environment or tech company.
Professional certifications, credentials, and awards related to video production and creativity.
Valid California Driver's License (or the ability to obtain).
Valid Passport for international travel (or ability to get one).
Compensation & Benefits: The compensation range for this position is $73,000-$83,000 (annual salary). This role is a 6-month contract that may extend.
