Job Description

We are currently looking for a Technical Writer to join us in supporting various teams within the Corporate Office.
Position Overview:
The Technical Writer is an important position within BGI, and as such, it has important duties and responsibilities to fulfill, with both short-term and long-term goals. To be successful in this role, you must pay extreme attention to detail and be able to apply critical thinking skills to writing and communication. This is a hybrid role with a home base in our Mesa, AZ Corporate Office. We also have a satellite office in Albuquerque, NM, from which this role could be performed. Some travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Editing:
- Format documents to reflect BGI’s formatting standards and style for appeal and brand presentation.
- Review various documents for technical accuracy, including proper grammar, punctuation, tense, sentence structure, and list construction.
- Ensure that documents are appropriately cross-referenced with necessary records and adequate citations.
- Communicate with co-authors/team members to ensure changes are clear and accurately represent the material.
- Record changes to project files and maintain appropriate document control during and after the revision process.
Business/Bid Opportunities/Opportunity Pipeline:
- Support the identification of target business/bid opportunities and complete research on prospective bids and incumbents.
- Read and understand the requirements of each bid opportunity and ensure that all appropriate components of the bid have been completed according to the RFP or RFI requirements.
- Communicate with contract managers to clarify any questions BGI may have concerning bids, proposals, opportunities, or required documents.
Customer Relations Management (CRM):
- Determine ideal information to capture for clients, potential clients, contacts, companies, and the pipeline.
- Populate and maintain the CRM with contacts, clients, potential clients, companies, and the pipeline.
- Determine which types of reports may be useful to BGI Management for strategic planning and prioritizing bid opportunities.
- Customize, download, and distribute reports.
- Use the team leaders as resources to help gain an understanding of potential clients, current clients, and teaming partners.
Proposals/Bid Process:
- Support the proposal/bid process, including responses to requests for quotes, information, and proposals.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of business service lines and value propositions.
- Develop polished, BGI-branded proposal/bid materials.
- Ensure all deliverables are submitted on schedule and are internally and externally peer-reviewed by the proposal team.
- Ensure the peer review process is implemented, all deliverables are error-free, and accurately represent BGI and its capabilities.
- Maintain document control for all bids/proposals/RFIs (pre and post-submission).
- Manage document library content related to bids/proposals and update information as required.
Special Projects and Other Team Needs:
- Assist with data management needs for projects or business development objectives, including compiling, organizing, checking, or analyzing data.
- Provide technical editing and support for updating, managing, or modifying the BGI website.
- Generate and modify content templates for various BGI departments or projects as needed.
- Write project descriptions for completed or ongoing work requiring interviews with key personnel or compiling relevant information.
- Support developing and implementing training programs and courses, including curriculum formation, course content, and technical support for presenting training material.
- Manage BGI website content, including updating/modifying pages, updating or adding links, creating new pages, project descriptions, or news stories, publishing content, tracking website traffic and engagement, selecting media and other materials for page presentation, updating the leadership page, and troubleshooting website problems.
Qualifications:
- Attention to detail and providing high-quality deliverables to internal and external clients.
- At least 3 years' experience as a technical writer.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Persuasive, goal-oriented with the ability to self-motivate and motivate a team.
- Stakeholder management skills.
- Time management skills.
- Experience working to and exceeding targets.
