PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and evaluating effective and accessible training activities. This position will work with other team members, faculty/educators and subject matter experts to analyze training needs and develop learning content using different modalities/technologies. It will also support and implement evaluation strategies to measure the value and impact of learning programs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply adult learning theories and instructional design methodology to design and develop effective instructor-led and accessible online educational programs.
- Conduct needs analysis, identify performance objectives, develop testing material, design documents and courseware scripts for educational content and lead design of more technically complex training programs, e.g., simulations.
- Design and develop SCORM compliant eLearning courses using a variety of applications and tools such as Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS, Learning Management System (LMS), Learning Content Management System (LCMS), etc.
- Develop video/audio products using tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere CC, Vyond, etc.
- Support and implement evaluation strategies to measure the value and impact of learning programs
- Provide support in integrating evaluation into business processes and continuous improvement of the evaluation process.
- Coordinate the planning, development, and delivery of educator development workshops and other activities in areas of instructional design and technologies.
- Serve as primary technical support expert for educational design and development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, screen capture tools, video/audio production tools, Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, and vendor-specific tools that will enhance and individualize the course content delivery.
- Conduct pilot tests of the courseware and revise the courseware based upon data from pilot tests and other formative evaluations.
- Research, evaluate and pilot emerging technologies to meet instructional goals as well as provide insight for future trends and functionality in eLearning such as Generative AI, machine learning, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), etc.
- Develop templates that will allow efficient authoring of eLearning content by educators across the system to ensure quality and consistency of educational materials.
- Manage the design, development, implementation, testing and evaluation of different education projects
- Provide interface design solution to projects, including the function of graphic design, graphic production, graphic optimization, etc
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or design from an accredited university required. Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology preferred.
- 5+ years of instructional design and development experience in a project-oriented environment
- Experience developing educational programs that incorporate the following: Instructional Design, Learning Theory, Instructional Strategies, Evaluation Methodology, and Design of Interactive Courseware Products (Web or Computer-Based Training).
- Experience in designing and developing SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, Tin Can, API compliant multimedia eLearning content. Experience of using Generative AI, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) in education programs is desirable.
- Experience with HTML 5, CSS 3.0, JavaScript/JQuery, Adobe Creative Suite applications including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Other software and/or programming skills are desirable.
- Experience shooting and editing high-definition video/audio productions and optimizing media for various formats
