POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a paid internship open to undergraduate seniors. The intern will assist editors by reviewing proofs of BJU Press products, marking errors and inconsistencies for the editors to review. The intern will improve his or her editorial knowledge and skill by studying The Chicago Manual of Style, BJU Press house style and publishing standards, and a variety of editorial books. The intern will then apply this knowledge as he or she practices editing a variety of texts. The intern will work in BJU Press Editorial for a minimum of 160 hours over a fourteen-week period.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Proofread BJU Press products Read and discuss assigned book(s) that focus on the editorial process Observe editors working in a variety of projects in various stages of the editing process Practice editing various stages of project work REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Have acceptable performance on the BJU Press Editorial test Have working knowledge of English grammar and mechanics Able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing Willing to become familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style and BJU Press house style Able to follow directions well
