The Impact Communications & Engagement Manager is a key leader responsible for managing and executing strategic ESG communications and employee engagement initiatives that amplify our organization's sustainability and social impact vision. Reporting to the Program Director of Sustainability and Social Impact, this role will oversee storytelling, culture-building, and employee engagement efforts that highlight our commitment to environmental sustainability, culture and belonging.
THIS ROLE IS BASED OUT OF OUR NYC HQ REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR, SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL IMPACT.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications:
Collaborate with marketing to manage impact related content and activations, including social, influencer, brand activations and comms, trade, and digital/CRM/growth marketing. Partner with corporate communications and PR to develop and execute a dynamic ESG communications plan to showcase our impact initiatives, including sustainability programs, community partnerships, and employee stories. Manage Vita Coco Community Foundation's communication and advocacy work, including owned channels (website, social, etc). Support category and consumer insights to create compelling ESG narratives using various storytelling tools (e.g. sell sheets, presentation materials, etc). Lead and develop employer branding communications on owned channels in partnership with HR. Support legal and finance in regulatory disclosures related to ESG (e.g. Annual report) Lead the end-to-end ideation, copywriting, publishing, and layout of Vita Coco's annual ESG impact report. Engagement:
Design and lead employee engagement campaigns, events, and internal communications in partnership with our employee Culture & Belonging communities to inspire participation in belonging initiatives. Ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion principles are integrated across all communication and engagement efforts. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align communications and engagement activities with organizational impact goals. Manage domestic partnerships that support Vita Coco's impact work that engages employees or collaborates with marketing activations. Lead volunteering and product donation strategies as part of Vita Coco's charitable giving program. QUALIFICATIONS:
4 - 6 years of proven experience in strategic communications, public relations, marketing or employee engagement, preferably in the sustainability, nonprofit, or corporate social responsibility sectors. Strong storytelling and writing skills with a demonstrated ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences. Experience designing and implementing employee engagement programs that foster culture and community. Familiarity with DEI principles and best practices in both internal and external communications. Deep knowledge of ESG voluntary disclosures and guidance reporting frameworks (e.g., IFRS, SASB, GRI, CDP, GRI, TCFD/TNFD recommendations, ESRS, CSRD, UN Global Compact). Holistic understanding of environmental impacts, key issues in society, and the intersection of culture and business. Able to communicate competently on a wide array of ESG issues. Be a proactive self-starter and independent thinker but a team player. Experience in sustainable communications, including annual report copywriting a plus. Experience in purpose led brand marketing a plus. Experience in non-profit relationship management. Have strong time-management skills and highly organized.
At The Vita Coco Company, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, experience, education, training, licensure and certifications, knowledge and abilities of the applicant, alignment with market data, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $90,000-$95,000. This range may vary for positions that will be performed outside of California, Colorado, Nevada, New York City, Westchester County, NY, Rhode Island, or Washington.
