Associate Director, Broadcast Production

This is a Full Time position in the field of Production Coordinator / Project Management, located in Los Angeles, CA.

The position pays $71,500.00 — $85,000.00 per year.

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director, Broadcast Production. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $71,500.00 - $85,000.00 per year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. The Associate Director of Broadcast Production will participate in broadcast productions and related services for UCLA Athletics program. The individual will participate in overseeing live streaming and all live content, including BIG10 Network, StudentU, and UCLA associated videoboard productions. The individual will be responsible for creating broadcast content, staff scheduling, and video board production for all events. In addition, they will oversee all students, interns, and aid in the recruiting of new staff. The Associate Director will need to produce video content and messaging during a transformative time for UCLA and its transition into the BIG10 Platforms. This individual will possess the experience and skillset to interact with a broad spectrum of internal and external constituencies. The incumbent will follow the athletics philosophy consistent with that of UCLA Athletics and NCAA, and a commitment to diversity in all of its forms. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced broadcast communications professional. Researches, writes, and edits materials for broadcast for a variety of factual, news, and current affairs programs. May be responsible for marketing and or fundraising events. May be responsible for program scheduling and or reporting.

Experience

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in media design, multimedia, cinematography, digital arts, audio/video technology, communications or a related field.
  2. May require experience in broadcast operations.
  3. Experience in intercollegiate or professional sports video content development and/or live production or an appropriate substitution of general video production and film industry experience.
  4. Thorough knowledge/understanding of relevant technology, including methods of broadcast operations.
  5. Knowledge of video broadcasting techniques as well as proficiency with video production software.
  6. Proficiency with Ross, Newtek and Microsoft Office software.
  7. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
  8. Thorough knowledge of various types of programming.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience directing live event production, the creative video production process, camera operation, different camera and lens types, proper filming techniques, lighting design, audio production and the post-production process.
  10. Thorough written, research, editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  11. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  12. Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact with persons of diverse backgrounds and personalities.
  13. Demonstrated ability to convey technical information and provide guidelines in a clear and professional manner, using diplomacy, tact and discretion in all interactions.
  14. Ability to interact effectively with others, with an affinity for networking and collaboration, while focusing on the pursuit of departmental objectives.
  15. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse clientele.
  16. Thorough organizational skills.
  17. Must be highly motivated, energetic, able to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines, detail-oriented with the ability to manage a heavy load of deliverables.
