This role: + Coordinates and collaborates with community partners and library staff to facilitate the connection to resources for those facing a mental health crisis or requiring or benefitting from social services. + Builds and maintains strong relationships, and acts as a gateway to introduce individual library users to services in the community. + This position works under limited supervision. Essential Functions Gathers and assesses behavioral health information to help guide the library. Identifies collaborative resource groups in the local community and nationally to review applicable meetings, determining which are of the highest value and attending regularly. Develops processes for and communicates with library staff regarding appropriate strategies for responding to mental health issues and direction on providing the appropriate resources. Collaborates with other agencies and library staff to provide onsite events. Leads community capacity building efforts with behavioral health and related community partners. Creates and maintains an accurate inventory of community partners and the services they provide. Facilitates delivery of up-to-date resource information, as well as relevant points of contact, to all library staff. Collects and maintains statistical data on interactions and referrals made for mental health and social services related exchanges. Conducts data analysis and trend monitoring in collaboration with data analyst to make recommendations to library leadership for service level improvements. Conducts presentations for community members, staff and partners regarding mental health issues. Monitors legislative changes related to mental health issues and social services available. Reviews and makes recommendations to leadership on department procedures related to the library's role in connecting library users to available resources. Evaluates level of need and interventions necessary. Conducts mental status evaluations for library users who may be in mental health crises and connects them to appropriate resources. Meets with library users to determine individual needs and provides day-to-day referrals and guidance for users requesting resources. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training + Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field and + one year of experience in mental health-related programs, or + an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Knowledge of: + mental health and social service agencies in the local area and the scope of their services; + regulations and laws applicable to mental health program administration; + public health practices, policy and administration; and + computer usage including related software. Ability to: + conduct mental health needs assessments, individually and as part of a team; + develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization; + communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and + perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training + Three years of experience in mental health-related programs. + Certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or other equivalent license. Licensing And Other Requirements + Valid state-issued driver's license.
