General Summary

This position is a grant-funded, limited position with an end date of June 30, 2026, and is based at the Westminster Campus (Westminster, CO).

Who We Are

Who You Are

As the Multimedia Graphic Design (MGD) Program Coordinator, you will work directly with and report to the MGD Faculty Lead at the Westminster campus. You will primarily focus on supporting student success by promoting program growth that aligns with industry expectations and FRCC's mission. Through collaborative efforts, this position will require developing strategies and producing content to create awareness and access for students college-wide and Concurrent Enrollment (CE) to the open studio, labs, equipment, technology, and opportunities within the MGD program. As the MGD Program Coordinator, you will manage work-study students and assist students in the MGD lab, maintain equipment, checkout rooms and equipment, inventory assets, and asset management. The Coordinator is responsible for organizing events and workshops with instructors, industry collaborators and students. This position will require organization, critical thinking, people skills, and the willingness to advance through specialized training and/or professional development. Within the position of MGD Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating a safe environment while securing and maintaining high-end equipment including but not limited to, grant-funded assets.

The ideal candidate should showcase their ability to harmonize typography, imagery, multimedia and other design elements cohesively to communicate messages effectively.

This position is a grant-funded, limited position with an end date of June 30, 2026 with potential for renewal. Additionally, this position is based at the Westminster Campus and requires a strong on-campus presence.

SALARY: $49,369 - $51,838 annually

Primary Duties

Lab Coordination:

Maintain 20 hours a week of open lab hours. This will include a variety of tasks such as:
  • Manage daily operations of the MGD lab, including open lab hours, equipment and software maintenance, facility upkeep, and supervision of work study students and resources.
  • Provide technical support to lab users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with file formats, and answering design-related questions.
  • Keep track of lab resources, including equipment, software licenses, hardware, and design materials, and ensuring they are up-to-date and available when needed.
  • Hire, train and supervise student lab assistants working in the lab, providing guidance on design principles, software usage, and best practices.
  • Establish and enforce lab policies and guidelines to ensure a safe and productive environment for all lab users.
  • Develop and maintain equipment, including storage, usage, and developing checkout processes.
  • Make recommendations for purchases as needed.
  • Open print lab hours and learn large format printing use, and maintenance.

Program Support:

Assist the Lead of the Multimedia Graphic Design program to promote the program, coordinate events, collaborating with other departments. Types of tasks include:
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and seminars related to multimedia graphic design, including coordinating guest speakers, arranging venues and handling logistics.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry partners, design firms, or relevant organizations.
  • Support program marketing by creating promotional materials, managing social media, and participating in outreach to attract students and raise program awareness.
  • Collaborate with other departments or programs within the FRCC to facilitate interdisciplinary projects or joint initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and design advancements to introduce innovative ideas and best practices to the program.
  • Assist with planning and executing the MGD Student Art Show, including receiving artwork, curation, printing and coordinating with vendors, the Program Lead and students.

Mentorship and Tutoring:
  • Provide constructive feedback on students' design projects to help improve their concepts, aesthetics, and technical skills.
  • Identify students' skill gaps in multimedia graphic design and create personalized learning plans to support their growth.
  • Assist students in becoming proficient in multimedia graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant tools.
  • Guide students in developing their design portfolios to showcase their best work and increase chance of success in future endeavors.
  • Recommend learning resources, including tutorials, design books, and workshops, to help students expand their knowledge and skills beyond the lab environment.
  • Share industry insights and best practices with students to help them understand current design trends, client expectations, and professional standards.
  • Encourage and inspire students to believe in their abilities and take creative risks, fostering their confidence as designers.

Required Competencies

  • Design Knowledge: Has knowledge in multimedia production and graphic design principles, layout, typography, color theory, and visual communication, and use multimedia concepts. Provides guidance and feedback to students on their design projects.
  • Multimedia Software Proficiency: Is proficient in multimedia graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.), as well as other relevant design tools and technologies.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively guides and mentor students, collaborates with faculty and staff, and maintains clear and concise lab-related documentation.
  • Teaching and Mentoring: Provides instruction and mentoring to students, tailoring guidance to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Cultural and Ethical Awareness: Is sensitive to cultural diversity and ethical considerations in design, fostering an inclusive and responsible learning environment.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with industry trends, design advancements, and educational practices.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with various stakeholders, such as faculty, administrators, industry professionals, and students, to enhance the lab's offerings and establish partnerships.
  • Leadership: Supervises lab assistants or students, fosters teamwork, and creates a positive and productive lab environment.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Fosters creativity and innovation within the lab, encouraging students and faculty to explore new design concepts and experiment with cutting-edge techniques.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Effectively problem solves and addresses challenges that arise in the lab, whether technical, logistical, or related to student projects.
  • Adaptability: Maintains flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities, evolving technologies, and varying student needs.

Qualifications

Required Education/Training & Work Experience

  • Certificate in multimedia graphic design and three (3) years demonstrated experience utilizing multimedia and graphic design concepts.


OR

  • Associate degree and two (2) years demonstrated experience utilizing multimedia graphic design concepts.


OR

  • Four (4) years demonstrated experience utilizing multimedia graphic design concepts.


AND

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing multimedia or graphic design concepts.


Preferred Education/Training & Work Experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.

FRCC employees contribute to , which provides retirement and other benefits to employees of more than 500 government agencies and public entities in the state of Colorado. PERA is the 21st largest public pension plan in the United States and is a substitute for Social Security; FRCC employees do not contribute to Social Security. PERA eligible employees are required to contribute a fixed percentage of their salary to the pension. Student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA.
