The award-winning global tech nonprofit CareerVillage.org is at an exciting moment: we’re rapidly growing, expanding our service offerings, and looking to grow our team with a full-time UX/UI Designer. If you’re mission-driven, passionate about developing socially impactful technology, and have a personal understanding of the challenges our learners face, we’d love to hear from you!
About CareerVillage.org
CareerVillage.org is dedicated to democratizing access to career information and advice for underrepresented people. As a UX Designer at CareerVillage.org, you’ll be helping build the technology to enact our mission: to democratize access to career information and advice for millions of underrepresented youth. You’ll be contributing to two products: (1) our flagship crowdsourcing platform, which supports millions of learners, over 150,000 professionals, and thousands of teachers who have joined our movement and (2) our new product, Coach, an AI Career Coach (read about it in Fast Company and Forbes). The majority of your time will be spent working on Coach. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Director of Product.
What you’ll do
- Design user experiences: Create intuitive, user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing designs for web and mobile, translating complex user needs into simple, impactful interactions.
- Develop and refine UI components: Design and iterate on user interface components, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across our platforms.
- Collaborate on product vision: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to align design with research insights, business goals, and user needs.
- Conduct design research and testing: Support user research and testing efforts, incorporating feedback into new and existing designs.
- Produce design assets: Generate wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes that guide the development team in bringing features to life.
- Broader organizational design: Potentially contribute to other marketing and communications materials for non product work streams
- Champion DEIJ: Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and reflect a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
What you bring
- Degree or Certification in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience working in UX/UI web design
- Portfolio of Relevant Work: Demonstrated experience designing for web and/or mobile, ideally with a focus on products for social impact or education.
- Proficiency in Design Tools: Expert use of design tools (we use Figma) for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals.
- Understanding of UX/UI Principles: Knowledge of user-centered design, information architecture, and interaction design principles.
- Experience conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing
