JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/Principal, the Library Media Professional provides students and faculty with an enriched library media center environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will assist with intellectual growth, and aid students and faculty in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library and media resources. The Library Media Professional will maintain and supervise the library/media center as a learning laboratory and a resource center for print and non-print materials, serving students and staff with a program that supports the school curriculum and technology programs.

- Ability to assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the library/media center.
- Ability to assist in the development and revisions of the curriculum and instructional services as related to media services.
- Ability to serve as liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging parent and community involvement with the school.
- Instruct students and staff in the necessary information skills and the effective use of the Library/Media Center, materials and related equipment.
- Provide assistance to the District Schools staff in the selection and use of instructional materials and equipment.
- Maintain proper accounting and record keeping systems for library materials and equipment including circulation, distribution, retrieval, collection evaluation and inventory.
- Serve as a resource for the acquisition of software for the library/media center and for the instructional program.
- Manage the computer software for the library/media center.
- Set and maintain appropriate standards of behavior in the library/media center.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and school board policy.
- Participate in the design and implementation of a middle school library, media and technology curriculum.
- Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent/Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA or BS Degree
- Student teaching internship, or full-time library/media specialist or related experience.
