$14.22/hr (+$0.40 extra for 60+ college credit and $0.30 for Para Certification/Sub Authorization)

Supervises:
-This individual is responsible for supervising the behavior and safety of students. Acts as a resource for individuals throughout the school by assisting with locating materials in the Media Center and by providing an organized center to promote student education and reading enjoyment.
-This individual is responsible for assisting individual and small groups of students within the general education classroom and special education classroom.

Job Summary:
-Responsible for assisting the district Media Specialist with checking books in and out; shelving books; assisting students and staff with locating appropriate materials; performing clerical duties; and maintaining technology equipment, computer system and automated card catalog.
-Assist teachers in the instruction, supervision, and care of students in a variety of instructional settings, including special education, general education, work/community, early learning, and school bus, as assigned.

Position Responsibilities
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Library
  • Check books in and out of the Media Center.
  • Shelve books.
  • Supervise students.
  • Assist students and staff with locating appropriate materials in the Media Center.
  • Perform clerical duties such as maintaining student records and catalog system.
  • Record periodicals and prepare them for student circulation and teacher routing.
  • Prepare overdue lists and notices.
  • Read stories to students visiting the Media Center.
  • Perform minor maintenance of technology equipment.
  • Assist with inventorying all technology and print and non-print materials.
  • Facilitate learning around makerspace.
  • Attend work on a prompt and reliable basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Education
  • Assist teachers with educational activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly educational environment.
  • Assist in implementing consistent behavior management strategies and procedures.
  • Supervise lunchroom, recess, halls, classroom, bus loading/unloading, and other assigned areas.
  • Clarify and reinforce teachers' instructions and reinforce skills taught by the teacher.
  • Chart/graph student performance.
  • Assist students with work completion.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of students' Individual Education Plans.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assist in meal and snack preparation and clean up, as needed.
  • Assist in cleaning and sanitizing the classroom environment.
  • Follow students' behavior management plans.
  • Perform personal care duties for students with disabilities, as needed.
  • Assist with instruction in the community setting, as required.
  • Lift, carry and correctly position students with physical disabilities.
  • Prepare instructional materials.
  • Complete Medicaid documentation, as necessary.
  • Implement strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior and reduce inappropriate behavior.
  • Supervise students in community/work settings.
  • Follow directions from teachers and administrators.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Attend work on a prompt and reliable basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Mental Functions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and use interpersonal skills which include demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills and must follow verbal and written instructions. The employee is frequently required to copy, coordinate, compare and evaluate. This individual must possess basic English and mathematics skills.
