Job Description:

SUMMARY

Provide instruction in thefundamentals of playing the musical instrument, including posture, notereading, rhythm, technical competency, and interpretation. This position isgrant-funded.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for providing instruction, and assign repertoire that matches the level of each individual student.
  • Develop and present a curriculum that provides students with an experience in the art form that is age appropriate, and challenges students to achieve at the highest level.
  • Present a culminating event representing the quality of work undertaken over the course of the semester.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Bachelor's Degree on the instrument that will be taught and/or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for integrating students with varying stages of musical development
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
  • Proven background in providing dynamic instruction with the ability to integrate industry, professional, and life experiences into a classroom learning environment in either large or small groups

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
