Job Description: The High School and Middle School Accompanist provides piano or other instrumental accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and events involving school choirs. They work closely with the choir directors to support the musical development of students and enhance overall performance quality. Responsibilities include sight-reading music, adapting to various musical styles and genres, attending rehearsals, and maintaining a flexible schedule to accommodate school events. The accompanist may also assist in auditions, competitions, and other related activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide skilled piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances of school choirs.
  • Collaborate with directors to prepare for concerts, recitals, and other musical events.
  • Sight-read and interpret sheet music accurately, adjusting tempo, dynamics, and style as required.
  • Attend rehearsals and offer musical guidance and support to students and performers.
  • Assist in auditions, competitions, and assessments by providing accompaniment for student performances.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative attitude in working with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ensure availability for school events and performances, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Uphold a standard of excellence in musical performance and contribute to a positive learning environment within the music department.
  • Other related activities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in piano, with strong sight-reading skills.
  • Experience accompanying school music programs and choirs are preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to various musical styles and genres.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate rehearsals and performances.
  • Passion for music education and supporting student musicians in their artistic development.
