Title: Business Management Teacher - Red Mesa High School

Employment Terms: Ten (10) months. Salary and work year are to be established by the board.

Salary Classification: Teacher Salary Schedule

General Statement of Responsibilities: To help students learn subject manner and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women. Teach classes in a variety of subjects: to possibly include; keyboarding, computer applications, note-taking/shorthand, accounting, bookkeeping, record keeping, office procedures, merchandising, business communications, data processing, business law.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop lesson plans, based on Arizona Standards, and organize daily classes for demonstration, instruction and practice.
  2. Instruct students in the use, care and safe operations of business machines.
  3. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in a lab/classroom where several activities may be taking place simultaneously.
  4. Demonstrate skills and techniques applicable to lessons being taught.
  5. Instruct students on the importance of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness and good work habits.
  6. Establish rapport with the business community as a resource re current business methods and possible partnerships.
  7. Maintain professional competence through professional growth activities; continuing education.
  8. Communicate with academic team members and other school staff as needed for student success.
  9. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  10. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  11. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request from immediate supervisor.
  12. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  13. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate these objectives to the students.
  14. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  15. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  16. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  17. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  18. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  19. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/ or rules governing student life conducts, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and good manner.
  20. Make provision by being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  21. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aid(s) and/ or volunteer(s) and cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  22. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
Qualifications:
  • Certification: State of Arizona Secondary Teaching Certification;
  • Experience: Kind and amount of prior job experience required, and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Education: BA or MA Degree in Education. Degree(s) required and area of major study.
