Job Summary

The Webmaster and SEO Specialist will play a pivotal role in creating, managing, and optimizing our web presence. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining websites for various departments and colleges using the University's CMS system. The role includes implementing innovative SEO strategies, ensuring brand consistency across all digital platforms, and enhancing user experience to align with the University's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and develop websites for different colleges and departments, focusing on navigation, page layout, and overall user experience
2. Use the University's CMS system effectively to build and manage web pages
3. Ensure all web content is up-to-date and reflects the current offerings and achievements of the respective departments and colleges
4. Develop and implement SEO strategies to enhance visibility and ranking on search engines
5. Optimize web pages, including HTML, site structure, metadata, layout, and navigation
6. Keep abreast of the latest SEO trends and algorithms to ensure maximum effectiveness
7. Conduct usability testing to ensure the website is user-friendly and meets the needs of the target audience
8. Analyze user feedback to continually improve the website's performance and user experience
9. Maintain the consistency of the website's look and feel, ensuring a cohesive brand experience
10. Collaborate with leadership and Points of Contacts (POCs) from various departments and colleges to gather requirements and provide guidance on web best practices
11. Discuss and implement new website features and enhancements in alignment with college/departmental goals and user needs
12. Educate and assist college and departmental staff in understanding the importance of SEO and web presence
13. Stay updated with web techniques to provide accurate and meaningful
insights

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Required Experience
Two (2) years related experience in website management with extensive experience in website design (portfolio required)

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree in in Communications, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

Preferred Experience
Web and SEO experience in higher education industry, information technology, computer science, or related field
Experience in BrightEdge SEO platform, OmniUpdate CMS
Previous SEO experience in optimizing web and campaign performance in search results
Previous experience utilizing Google Analytics advanced analytics, Advanced Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Able to do in-depth keyword analytics and use keywords in content, campaigns, and creative materials
Able to write, edit and coordinate original, and curated search engine-optimized (SEO) content
Able to analyze content performance to understand user behavior and pushing toward continuous content improvement
Able to translate analytic data into strategic ideas and recommendations
Able to achieve top search engine rankings
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and ability to produce creative web designs and develop responsive websites
Knowledge of the latest CMS solutions
Knowledge and experience using graphics and web development tools
Knowledge and experience of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Knowledge of best practices for organic search engine optimization including knowledge of search engine spiders and search engine ranking factors
Knowledge of the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in web design, graphic design, and search engine optimization strategies
Strong knowledge of search engine algorithms and ranking strategies

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Flash, BrightEdge, Google
Analytics)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
