We are currently seeking a highly motivated seasoned professional to lead several national retail programs with a wide array of excited projects nationwide. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage client relationships and a multi-discipline team, create and execute design goals, and advance projects through entitlements in collaboration with studio leaders.
Position Summary:
At RDC, Senior Designers create and coordinate the development of innovated design and presentation documents, with an emphasis on helping the studio document the design goals for each project. Within the National Retail team, The Senior Designer is expected to formulate designs that support the National Retail client's goals, fully master jurisdictions design requirements as well as developer excited driven projects aligned with most current retail industry new trends. The Senior Designer also provides the project team with recommendations, which require independent judgment and evaluation (e.g. choice materials, colors, fixtures, etc.) to innovative sustainable materials. Senior Designers are expected to identify and guide solve problems encountered independently, or with guidance from senior team members for more complex issues.

Senior Designers are expected to identify and guide solve problems encountered independently, or with guidance from senior team members for more complex issues.
Responsibilities:
- Use graphic design software and physical modeling tools to produce design exhibits, such as renderings, presentation packages, and models to convey design goals at various stages of the project schedule.
- Coordinate research efforts as needed in support of design goals.
- Provide verbal presentations of design progress, internally and externally including jurisdiction and community meetings.
- Coordinates and executes routine discipline tasks including diagramming, modeling, detailing, and drafting.
- Understand and use current company CAD/Revit standards and procedures in the production of design and design development drawings and exhibits, and help teach these standards to Designers and Interns.
- Facilitate design coordination processes between RDC and clients, governmental agencies, tenants, and consultants.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in architectural practice with focus on retail typology conceptual design and design development preferred.
- Knowledge of retail typology architectural design, development, and construction documents and understanding the differences in level of detail and design at project milestones.
- Understanding of architectural design, site planning, design development and graphic presentation.
- Proficiency in SketchUp and AutoCAD/Revit (latest version) and other graphic and business software and their application in developing and presenting design documents.
- Effective English communication skills, conversational and written, for ongoing project collaboration, documentation, and marketing (blogs, design narratives)
